About Nina Sekhon Sharma
When things change inside you, things change around you - and that's a beautiful thing.
As we age, we are confronted with increasing responsibilities which can be overwhelming and difficult to manage. Whether it be parenthood, showing up for your passions, advancing in your career or transitioning into a different stage of life, these increasing demands can take a toll on our personal time, mental health, and ability to cope and communicate the way we want to. Over the last 15 years, I have been dedicated to helping individuals manage stressors in a healthier way and guiding couples and families in working together as a team rather than as separate entities.
I first started out my career supporting survivors of sexual abuse and have now also developed expertise in working with anxiety and depression, grief and loss, separation/divorce, marital dissatisfaction, dating obstacles, extended family relationship dynamics, caregiver burnout, parenting challenges and workplace stress. I understand the complexities and overlap of real-world barriers like discrimination, lack of social support, addiction, financial stress and cultural factors and my style of therapy welcomes any and all stories that enter our therapy room – with a non-judgemental lens.
My client-centred, trauma-informed approach includes and is not limited to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman's Couple Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy modalities. Through these approaches, I help individuals and couples identify unhelpful patterns and learn the skills in managing situations more effectively.
I am a strong advocate of self-care as an essential part of maintaining mental wellness and creating a safe space within yourself to allow for changes.
In my free time, you will find me spending time with my family, sipping on a warm coffee, swimming with my two children or enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
