About Denisse Horcasitas

I am a compassionate Clinical Counsellor experienced in working with people from diverse backgrounds who are facing a wide range of mental health concerns and life challenges. I'm especially passionate about helping people navigate grief and loss, manage their emotions, and mitigate the impact of trauma on their everyday life.

I am originally from Mexico and for the past 10 years I have lived in different cities in Canada and the USA. As an immigrant woman, I understand the importance of connecting with others, finding support from the community and building resilience to overcome challenges. I am inspired by my own experience to work with people on increasing their capacity to cope with adversity. My aim is to support you in building practical skills to reach your goals

I believe everyone has the ability to grow and overcome challenges, and I strive to create a safe space where you can do exactly that. We will work with the strengths you already have, to foster awareness of your thoughts, behaviours, emotions and relationships, and then find new ones for you to try - together.

I offer trauma-informed and client-centered services. During my career, I have worked with people who are facing questions about identity, relationships concerns, grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use and life transitions.

My approach is eclectic and I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing and facilitating change; I am transparent, open and easy to connect with. I invite my clients to be forthcoming and welcome your feedback at all times.
